Copyright, Licensing, and Preservation Policies

All articles published in the Brazilian Journal of Biosystems Engineering (BIOENG) are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license allows anyone to share and adapt the material for any purpose, including commercial use, provided that proper credit is given to the original authors and source.

Copyright

Authors retain the copyright of their work upon publication. By submitting and publishing with BIOENG, authors grant the journal the right to publish, distribute, and make the article publicly available under the terms of the CC BY 4.0 license.

Author Responsibilities

Authors must ensure that their work is original, properly cited, and does not infringe on any third-party rights. If authors reuse previously published figures, tables, or content, they are responsible for securing permission where required and acknowledging the original source.

Reuse and Distribution

Under the CC BY 4.0 license, readers are free to:

  • Share – copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format;

  • Adapt – remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose.

As long as:

  • Appropriate credit is given;

  • A link to the license is provided;

  • Any changes made are indicated.

Archiving and Preservation

BIOENG adopts the LOCKSS system for archiving and preserving the journal's content, which creates a permanent archive distributed among the participating libraries. BIOENG is also part of the  Rede de Serviços de Preservação Digital Cariniana do IBICT, that provides preservation for any Brazilian journal in the system Open Journal System [OJS].
