This work shows the first results of tilapia and trout creation in an intensive fish farming pilot system with water recirculation and temperature control. Tilapia and trout were reared in tanks with controlled water temperature maintained at 28 ± 1 ºC and 15 ± 1 ºC, respectively, using a double thermal effect heat pump to meet the heating and cooling demand. The feed conversions of tilapia were 1.37:1 and 1.25:1 for the species Red and Thai variety, respectively. The rainbow trout showed good adaptation to the feedlot, getting a weight gain of 500% in 18 weeks. The daily rate of water renewal was 5%. It was used 10% to the Thai tilapia after the 9th creation week. The estimated productivity for the intensive farm of Thai tilapia was 150 t ha-1. In general, the arrangement showed satisfactory results, as well the heat pump was effective and reliable, however, new forms and technologies should be studied for the removal of ammonia generated, which was the major bottleneck of this type of system.
